Poker Supplies Poker Supplies, As Good As It Gets
Poker Supplies for a Casino Night Fundraising
events have a tendency to be dull affairs. After all, there's only so
much interest that one can expect to get out of people from a silent
auction, where the items either inspire bidding or they don't, or even
those of the bake sale variety.
However,
one of the most popular find raising activities that you can arrange in
order to get people actually excited about taking part is that of a
casino night.
Let's
face it. Most people can't help but enjoy the rush of watching that
ball bounce around that spinning roulette wheel hoping that it lands on
the number they've selected. Even the most conservative among us feels a
certain charge of electricity when the dealer hands them a blackjack.
The
best part about casino fundraisers is that your donors can participate
freely, without the risk of losing any actual money. For a small
donation, they will be given a fixed amount of playing chips and have
fun gambling without fear of losing their shirts. And, if you wish to
give a door prize to the person who ends the evening with the most
chips, then you can really add to the aura of excitement.
Of
course, another fun thing to do, given the ever-increasing popularity
of poker tournaments on television, is to have a poker tournament of
your very own for charity. Of course, you can't just set the date and
wait until the last minute to arrange such an event. You'll need the
proper poker supplies.
Here's a short list of the poker supplies you will need to get in order to guarantee a successful evening:
•
Poker cards. You will need at least two decks per poker table. Decks
are typically made of 100 percent plastic in order to withstand
prolonged wear and tear, but if you're only planning to use them this
one evening, then paper decks will suffice.
•
Poker chips. Every tournament needs a set of chips in order to "keep
score" and determine who is winning the event. Chips come in different
colors in order to delineate different values, but each set has its own
distinct overall look. Chips can also be customized fairly
inexpensively, so if you wanted to help advertise your organization and
give some of them away at the end of the night, it might be worth the
extra few bucks to do so.
•
Poker tables. You certainly can get away with using ordinary tables at
your event, but there's something to be said for the feel of
authenticity that a green felt poker table provides. If you don't have
the budget to purchase a large number of tables or the wherewithal to
build your own, then a much cheaper option is to simply get the table
top and place it on a pre-existing table.
•
Shuffle machines. While certainly not a requirement, any game that uses
decks of cards can be sped along by the use of an automatic shuffling
machine. While one deck is in use on the table, the next can be in the
device, getting randomly mixed in preparation for the next hand of play.
It's not only a time saver, but it minimizes the hands on manipulation
of the cards that could result in damaging or otherwise ruining the
cards in use through bending, scratching or tearing.
•
Other tournament needs include timers, so that the dealers at each
table know when to raise the minimum ante per hand, some sort of racks
or other way to transport chips from table to table as the players move
seats, as well as having one "dealer button" per table in order for the
players to know who has to post antes and who gets to act last in each
hand.
You can
easily purchase all of these poker supplies on your own, piecemeal, and
still not break the bank. However, keep in mind that these games won't
deal themselves. You will need to provide dealers at each table to
oversee the proper running of the tournament. These dealers need to know
the rules of the game inside and out, and be trustworthy enough to
maintain complete impartiality at the table.
If
that task seems too daunting to undertake, then the best course of
action is probably to find a local casino rental company in your area.
In addition to being able to provide all the poker supplies you might
need, they will also provide the manpower needed to run the actual game
playing portion of the event for you.
By
going through a casino rental company, you can also expand beyond just
poker & poker supplies and into different casino games like blackjack, roulette, craps
and even baccarat if you wish to try to appeal to people who might want
to give gambling a try, but don't have the time to devote to a lengthy
poker tournament.
Whichever
route you take, as long as you take a moment to collect all the
equipment you need to run the poker game smoothly, you're sure to have a
winning event. Oh, and don't forget the refreshments!
